I just completed a new mural for the Community Services Clearinghouse in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
I’ve named the mural, No Child Should Ever Go Hungry.
This is a wall where they take lots of photos with donors and volunteers. I just made it more colorful. I created this mural to help raise awareness of their mission and to encourage those who see this to donate. Ten dollars will feed a child for a month.
The Mural
This mural depicts a child holding aloft an apple as heart shaped color bands radiate outward. Feeding hungry children is an act of community, and an act of love. The mural focuses on the both the act of giving food and the child as recipient.
This image coupled with the mission statement will make a beautifully colored backdrop for every photo opportunity taken here. The image will also work well on t-shirts and other advertising items.
What is the Community Services Clearinghouse
Since 1979, the Community Services Clearinghouse, Inc. serves as an information-sharing agency. They provide for the needs of families and individuals in the area who are facing emergency situations. The Clearinghouse works with churches, civic groups, community agencies, and schools. Their primary focus is assisting cancer and hospice patients, the elderly, the disabled, and children as well as working families.
The Clearinghouse serves five counties in Arkansas and two in Oklahoma. They are Crawford, Sebastian, Logan, Scott and Franklin in Arkansas and Leflore and Sequoyah in Oklahoma. They have a food pantry of both non-perishable and fresh or frozen foods for the same population.
Meals for Kids
Generally, the public knows the Clearinghouse best as being the provider for the MEALS FOR KIDS Backpack Program. Because, they prepare and distribute over 2,800 backpacks of food to children each week so they have food for the weekend. This program alone costs about $400,000 a year to operate. They are in constant need of reaching new donors to meet the increasing demand. Please give as they seek to serve some 6,000 families representing some 20,000 individuals. Many of these children are under the age of 16.
The Clearinghouse partners with several local agencies to ensure that everyone in need receives all the help available to them. Their Information and Referral Service assists families to find the help they need. And their Job Board points many clients toward employment that will allow them to take control of their situation.
Community Services Clearinghouse, Inc. is a 501c3 organization and is a recipient of United Way funds.

Thanks to @wickedbeatsm3 and my daughter, for jumping in with me. You guys are pros!
Design, execution and materials were all donated to this awesome public service organization. And every penny counts when feeding hungry children in our community and region.
